how long is dancing with the stars tonight

tom: our next star is an actor and america's next top model winner who was born into a multigenerational deaf family. the fact that he can't hear the music did not stop nyle dimarco from taking up our ballroom challenge to dance with season 14 champion, peta murgatroyd. peta: you're a model?

how long is dancing with the stars tonight, peta: oh my gosh. nyle: well, once i wrapped on america's next top model and i decided to be a part of dancing with the stars was two fold. number one, i'm always up for a challenge

and second i want to prove to the worldthat deaf people can dance and win. peta: i'm gonna turn him into a real dancer by the end of this. nyle: we're learning from each other. it's not just me learning from peta. she's actually learning for me also. learning about my culture. and i think that is what a team should look like. peta: the good old scratch on the back, that means turnaround. peta: sometimes i tap his back

that's to count him in to the five, six, seven, eight. peta: let's go back to the top. carrie ann: wow, you're actually in the pocket. you didn't just have great rhythm, you were in the pocket of the rhythm. you brought the rhythm to life! peta, i have so much respect for you, because whatever is happening beyond the palpable chemistry you guys have, there is an incredible partnership.

and we know this show is about teamwork. this is a beautiful team to watch. peta: from the top. water. reporter: try again, from the top, i need some water. reporter: how much dance experience does this man have? he's a great model, with a great body but how much dance experience? nyle: well, actually none i first learned with peta.

she's very visual, so she showsme how to dance and what it should look like. so that way i can see the music through peta. peta: no disadvantages. nyle: right nyle: tarzan is one of my favorite films. tarzan and jane, when they first met, they couldn't understand each other. that's exactlywhat's happening with us. peta: that's cool!

nyle: peta's dancing is music to my eyes. so that's what's important to me. erin: apparently i didn't get the memo that we we're wearing loin clothes and we're doing a lot of ab workouts. carrie ann: at first i thought maybe, at the beginning of this competition that you were maybe at a disadvantage. but when i watch you perform, i realize that you're at an advantage because you've been telling storieswith your body and communicating with your body your whole life.

you were born to dance. len: from len, a ten! reporter: now are you ready for next week? do you miss peta? nyle: yes, i miss my baby girl peta! bruno: it had such passion. such belief. such connection. beauty of movement.

there was a moment when you stopped. time froze. bruno: nyle, the magic of dance is alive within you. you have to be made of granite not to fall head over heals in love with that performance. peta: it has changed everything for me it has just been suchan amazing stepping stone with creating amazing movement with somebody so special. len: you're proof that anyone can do anything if they want to.

peta: of course, i had to learn. nyle: bye, bye. peta: bye, bye. bruno: i thought that was mind-blowing! you really have a special power. that sequence, the silent sequence, it was like watching five men dance to the beat of a single heart. carrie ann: i've never seen anything like that, that touched me so profoundly.

you really are educating us about what it is to dance the way you're dancing. it was so profound to see it without anything, and just know that's what you're doing every week. it was like, thank you for the gift. i feel honored that i got to experience dance as you have experienced it with peta. you guys are brilliant. len: dancing with the stars is tough. and the others climb hills. you climb mountains.

carrie ann: you reminded us to constantly push our boundaries because you're always pushing your boundaries. but tonight especially. i love your fearlessness. it inspires me to the deepest core of my being. thank you. bruno: no confusion. i wrote it down myself. ten!

carrie ann: not only do i see a man that wants to prove that he can dance. in this incredible way, and this new approach to how you connect with all of us and the music but i also see a man who is proving that he can change the world through dance. nyle's mom: being a deaf person in a world of people that could hear is a challenge. when nyle decided to get on dancing with the stars, i said, "can you do it?" he said, "yeah, sure i can. why not?" and that is so nyle.

peta: this is like unlike any other any other journey that i've ever experience on the show, and it is so special to me
