brandi stephens: hey everybody. this is blogging brandi. i've been going to vegas for over two decades. that's two before, okay. two decades. i've loved telling everybody about some ofthe fun stuff that i find in vegas, because i get a ton of questions about how do younot spend so much money and where are the fun places to go? so i figured ... i wrote six tips and i wantedto share them with you, about how i go to
vegas on a budget and get the best food atthe best prices, see some of the coolest shows and do some of the funnest things that i getto bring and share with you all the- so my first tip for going to vegas is to makesure that you only gamble at the local casinos. normally they're off the strip. there's tons of them around, so i've got acouple of them in my guide, which you can download below. the minimums are better, the dealers are somuch more fun, and they usually have some really awesome food specials. so stick to the local casinos.
you're going to get a little bit less of glitzand glamor, but you're going to have a much funner time. you're probably going to win something andget a better payout, or if you're losing, you're at least going to have fun while you'relosing. tip number two for going to vegas. never pay for drinks in vegas. that means even if you're paying for alcohol,it's all free and it's all included. [inaudible 00:01:34] from the cocktail waitresseswhenever you're gambling. as long as you're gambling, whether it's atthe tables or at a slot machine, you're going
to get service for drinks. you can get coffee, you can get wine, youcan get water. my favorite is sparkling water. [inaudible 00:01:48] to anything but mixeddrinks, because you don't know who's making them. so make sure to stick to wine, beer, coffee, water. or you can get straight shots if you reallywant to go that route. if a cocktail waitresses ...tip number three for doing vegas on a budget is if you want to get a five star meal fora five dollar price tag, make sure and check
out the happy hour specials at the restaurants. i'm including some of my favorite ones inmy guide down below. tip number four for doing vegas on a budgetis to make sure and always sign up for the comps and players clubs at any of the casinosthat you go. even if you're only gambling for a littlewhile, they take into consideration how much you're gambling and the time that you're gambling, but you get all kinds of free stuff, from hotel stays to free money to play with. i've even gotten plane trips for them to flyme out there, transportation. if there's an event or attraction at thathotel, you can always score those tickets
free too. just for signing up you can score all kindsof free swag. top number five for doing vegas on a budgetis never pay full price for event or attraction tickets. there's tons of discounts that you can go,from groupon. venues out there will offer, if it's closeto the day, either the same day or maybe 60, 30 days out, you can get the tickets for halfprice. there's locals that'll go out and actuallypurchase the tickers and they offer some of them online.
i'd also check out the casino comps and playersclubs, because if it's offered at the casino or property of the casino, you could actuallyscore some tickets, maybe free, off your players club points for what you've actually gambledat the property, or you could score them at a really discounted rate. you're already planning to play there so youmight as well get something back for it. okay. my last tip, number six, for doing vegas ona budget. you always stick to either some of the publictransportation or walking when you're in vegas. never take the taxicabs.
i've made this mistake and they charge youper rider. i don't usually take a lot of taxicabs butto me, i'm not going to pay per rider. if you have four people it adds up. uber or lyft. i've taken uber, it's a great experience. they also have uberx. some of the hotels that you stay at will offershuttle services, so you can choose between shuttle services, uber, lyft. you can always walk, but i would stay awayfrom the taxicabs.
make sure when you're taking these transportations, there's some public ones, there's some private ones, but always if you're doing a one off, make sure to tell them you don't want to take the scenic route, because that puts you onthe main strip where all the glitz and glamor is, where all the traffic, and what else doesit do? it adds to your time. so if you tell them, "hey, i don't want tobe on the scenic route. just get me there the fastest way." they're going to take you on the highway orone of the backstreets and trust me, you're in vegas.
there's not going to be anything that you'remissing. there's always something fun and maybe crazygoing on in the side streets of vegas [inaudible 00:04:59], but just stick to that. you're going to save some money and you'regoing to get your destination as fast as possible.
